My home near Llangrannog, Ceredigion, was built around 1860, it was in the same family for its whole life until I bought it in 2013. At the side of the house is a tiny building that was built for the farmers son who was a clogmaker. When we renovated we found many pieces of metal, like mini horse shoes that would have been used to protect the wooden bases of the clogs. I collected these and used them to rust pieces of fine gampi tissue and cloth for use in my artwork. Some of these paintings were created using the rusted tissue, collaged onto mount board and are painted with acrylic and matt medium. I’m still also working in watercolour and my paintings are inspired by the local wildlife and Welsh coast.
